That’s so important to us!
Because how many times have you seen a dress that you love, only to try it on and discover it looks ridiculous on your body shape?
Let’s just say it happens to us a lot…
Their dresses come in misses, petite, and plus sizes in a wide variety of styles to suit just about any taste and body shape.
We have very different styles when it comes to clothes (although we often love the same colors!). Plus we’re different shapes and heights.
We thought it would be fun for you to see how we could both find some super cute dresses from Closet52!
Anne’s Faves This Week
Let’s start with my stats.
I’m 5′ 1-1/2″ and currently weigh 135 (menopause has recently led me to add on 5 lbs that I can’t seem to shake, no matter what!)
I wear a 34D bra, so while petite sizes tend to work best for me in length, they don’t always fit me up top.
My dress size ranges from 4 to 8 depending on the material, the cut, and the brand.
When it comes to dresses, I tend to prefer sheath or wrap styles because I have broad shoulders.
There were a lot of styles I really liked when I browsed through the Closet52 catalog!
I don’t have any dressy events coming up, so I opted for styles that would work for date night or work events.
Petites Henna Print Dress
This was the first dress I knew I had to have.
The way the sleeves are cut is super flattering for broad shoulders, and the pattern is so much fun!
I paired it with some chunky sandals here for a more casual look.
But this dress features a fantastic back detail that can make it work for a dressier event too…
Check out that fun tie in the back!
It has a keyhole neckline with a tie detail that I absolutely love.
I would recommend accessorizing this dress with a stack of bracelets or a chunky cuff plus some great earrings.
A necklace would be overkill between the pattern and the bow at the back.
This dress is available in both petite and misses sizes.
I’m wearing a petite small.
The material is a poly/spandex blend that’s machine washable and you should hang it to dry.
Petites Doily Print Dress
This sarong-style dress is another one I really loved.
As a shorty, I look best in dresses that either hit just above my knee or a bit above my ankle.
I think knowing what styles work for your body is one of the blessings of getting older, isn’t it?
This dress has a scoop neck that’s perfect for showing off a necklace.
The tank-style sleeves are another option that works well with my broad shoulders.
I really like the sarong detailing because the tie at the waist helps give my straight waist the illusion of having more of a curve.
The pattern also does a great job of disguising those lumps and bumps that seem to go along with getting older… LOL
This dress is another one made from the poly/spandex blend that is machine washable (line dry).
I love that it doesn’t wrinkle so it’s perfect for packing!

Floral Belted Dress
I really like the pattern and style of this fun belted floral dress!
Since I often go back and forth between petite and misses sizes, I decided to order one of my dresses in the misses size to see how it would fit.
This dress is a misses small, and it fit well as far as length is concerned.
However, I was surprised to find that the top was definitely too large and gaps at the arms several inches on both sides.
Since this style isn’t available in a smaller size, I will need to exchange it for something else.
Fortunately, Closet52 has a super easy return and exchange policy!
AnnMarie’s Faves This Week
Ok so since Anne shared her stats with you, I guess it’s my turn…ugh!
I’m 5’6″ although my driver’s license says 5’7″ so I lost an inch somewhere along the way.
I actually questioned my nurse at a doctor’s appointment several years ago insisting she must have measured wrong.
She didn’t…I really am 5’6″ now and I currently weigh 160 lbs.
Like Anne, I’ve gained weight in the past couple of years, although I haven’t gone through menopause yet.
I’m usually a size 10 in dresses (sometimes an 8 depending on the style).
I carry more of my weight through my hips and thighs so I really like A-line or drop waist style dresses.
Plus I’m all about comfort and don’t like wearing Spanx so a loose fit is definitely more my style.
Balloon Sleeve Dress
My absolute favorite color to wear is black.
So I knew I had to choose at least one black dress and this one is so pretty!
I love the balloon sleeves and the tiered hem.
The shape of it is a bit casual but can totally be dressed up with some heels and jewelry.
The material has a crinkle textured look and is made from 100% polyester.
This dress comes in misses sizes 6 to 16 and is machine washable & tumble dry.
I’m wearing a size 10.
V-Neck Tiered Dress
This green sleeveless dress is another drop waist style with the same textured crinkle material as the black dress.
Again it’s made from 100% polyester but this one is handwash and line dry.
I pretty much love everything about this dress…the color is gorgeous, and the fit is perfect.
Chunky wedges are fun for a night out but you could also wear more casual sandals for an afternoon of running errands.
It’s a great summer dress but you can layer it with a sweater or jacket and wear it through the fall season too.
This dress also comes in pink, which is a super fun color.
It’s available in misses sizes 6 to 16 and I’m wearing a 10.
Ruffled Babydoll Dress
Guess what?
I chose another dress with the same textured crinkle polyester material.
The style of this dress is so me!
I have several off-the-shoulder dresses and shirts so I knew I’d like this one.
The color is pretty and looks great with wedge heels or even a pair of flip-flops.
This cute dress is machine washable & tumble dry.
It’s available in misses sizes S-XL.
Follow the size guide provided because each of the dress collections is independently measured for proper fit.
I ordered a large even though the chart indicated a size 10 would be a medium.
Ooops…lesson learned!
Although it’s a loose fitting dress, it’s just too big on me so I’ll exchange it for the smaller size.
Our Honest Review of Closet52
We both know what styles fit our individual figures best and we chose dresses that were most flattering to our bodies.
However, when it comes to color and pattern…well, it’s pretty obvious we have different tastes.
While Anne loves lots of different colors and patterns, AnnMarie prefers simple solids.
That’s what’s so great about Closet52…they have something for everyone!
