Week in review, July 10-16: We’re sharing some of our tips for college prep, DIY projects, recipes, entertaining, and more.

Do you feel like this summer is just flying by?

We can’t believe it’s already the middle of July…can you?!

The back-to-school displays are already set up in our local Walmart.

Summer decor if you can actually find anything left is on clearance and new fall decor is everywhere.

Before we know it our college kids will be packing up and heading back to campus.

So we’re over here trying to soak up all things summer, like outdoor concerts.

We saw Luke Combs last night and he was amazing!

Rain and thunderstorms are pretty typical during summers in North Carolina and boy were we hit with some storms while we were tailgating (not fun) and then another one caused the show to be delayed.

We shared it all in stories on Instagram…did you see it?

Last week we shared that we celebrated hitting 50k followers but had grown to over 60k.

And now we’re over 87k…it’s so surreal!

So if you aren’t already following over on IG here is the link…we’d love you to join us there. We share all kinds of tidbits about our daily life in stories, plus you’ll get information about coupons and deals when we find them.

6 foot olive tree in antique crock in corner of foyer

I scored some great deals during the Amazon Prime Day event.

I may have purchased not one but two more of these pretty olive trees.

They were such an awesome price I just couldn’t pass it up.

I’ll share where I’m putting them with you soon!

My son Gavin is moving into an unfurnished apartment for his senior year this year and needs a lot of stuff.

Somehow many of the things I bought him for his first college apartment two years ago seem to have disappeared. Hmmm?

And Emma is moving into her first apartment on campus so she has a whole list of must-have items.

I was able to get some of what they both needed for a good deal.

Did you find anything during the Prime Day event? Tell us about it in the comments below.

Anne’s Week

This week I did a little shopping too thanks to the deals on Prime Day!

In fact, some things that have been on my list to finish up my bedroom were on pretty deep discounts, so I’m a little closer to checking that room off my project list.

I’ve taken down all the flags that were decorating my home from just before Memorial Day, and shifted to a more neutral decor palette of whites with vintage woods, baskets, and greenery.

It feels so much more relaxing around here now which is nice since our work life has been going full throttle.

I also came up with a new recipe that I can’t wait to share with you next week!

And I’ve made some decisions that will help me finally get my office turned into a usable space for work and decor storage.

I’ll be sharing more about that with you soon.

One of the areas we write about here is our family because that’s part of being a mom, are we right?!

And since all of our Simply2Moms “kids” now are college students or beyond, that’s the focus of some of our blog content as we go through this phase of life with them.

If you have a son heading to college this year we have the best dorm packing list for guys, including all the must-have items he needs, plus our tips on what to leave at home.
