Week in Review: July 31 – August 6 | This week is all about college students from a pretty dorm room tour to a meaningful way to stay connected as they move from home with some tips for healthy hair thrown in. Plus we hit a huge milestone this week!

Well, it’s already August!

We don’t know about you but this summer is just flying by way too fast.

AnnMarie helped move her son into a new college apartment yesterday for his senior year and in a few weeks she’ll be moving her daughter back to school too.

Anne’s daughter will be heading back to campus in just a couple of weeks as well for her third and final year as an undergrad.

Yup…you read that correctly Katy will be graduating in just 3 years…that’s what hard work and determination will get you! We’re all so proud of her!

So since we’re in full back-to-school mode around here that’s what we focused on this week on the blog.

We hit a really big milestone this week on Instagram and now have over 100k followers.

Never did we think we’d hit this goal so quickly after reaching 50k followers just a few weeks ago.

But here we are and we couldn’t be more excited about it!

AnnMarie’s Week

The week after vacation is always rough, am I right?!

All the laundry, food shopping not to mention trying to get back into the groove of working again.

I did manage to get it all done plus two new blog posts this week so I call that a success.

I also helped Gavin pack up and organize all his stuff to move into a new apartment for his senior year at Appalachian State University.

We moved him in yesterday but unfortunately, I didn’t get many photos or videos of the process because I was too busy cleaning.

His college apartment is pretty old and it made me feel better to scrub the insides of all the cabinets before he unpacked because I knew he wouldn’t do it.

And yup I did that more for me than him. LOL

We moved everything in, set up his bed, hung his shower curtain, then headed out to eat and grab a few things from the store.

When we got back to the apartment he wanted to do the rest of the unpacking and setting up on his own so Chris and I headed back home.

Sometimes it’s not about getting blog content…it’s just about being there in the moment to help our kids.

Anne’s Week

This week has passed in a blur for me!

I finally finished painting my office, and now it’s time to get started on painting the furniture in it.

I’ve got some plans to combine a credenza and some old IKEA cube shelves to make a piece of furniture that looks like a hutch.

I haven’t decided yet whether I want to keep the cubes open for display, or if I want to put doors on them for concealed storage.

My plan is to get the two halves painted separately, then assemble them and add the trim that will give them the appearance of being connected and then decide about the doors.

I can’t wait to finally have a dedicated office space with room to store and display vintage pieces and antiques!

Once the office is done, the rec room will become a usable space again because right now it’s a disaster.

We have some fun plans for that room too!
