Week in Review: August 7-13 | This week we shared some fun fall DIY projects, favorite affordable home decor finds, and tips for hanging things in a college dorm room. And today is Anne’s birthday!
Happy Birthday to Anne!
Be sure to check out our social media later today! (wink…wink)
Although it’s still super hot here in North Carolina and we still have over a month of summer left, we’re starting to think ahead for fall.
As bloggers and content creators, it’s our job to share ideas and inspiration with you way ahead of time.
The fall decor has been out in stores for several weeks and we’ve learned the hard way that if you don’t buy it soon the good stuff will be sold out when autumn actually arrives.
I mean have you tried looking for a bathing suit in the past month?
All I can say is thank goodness for Amazon!
So just know that while we’re still enjoying the lazy days of summer we’re also planning our fall decorating and projects.
Remember we’re here to inspire you…not make you feel like you’re behind in the game of life.
You do what’s best for you and your family.
And save our ideas for later if you’re not ready yet…that’s what Pinterest is for, are we right?!
My childhood bff came to visit for a few days this week.
Lisa and I have been friends since the fourth grade…we’ve been through it all…awkward middle school years, college in different states, marriage, and kids.
And through the years we’ve remained a constant in each other’s lives and I’m so grateful to have her in my life.
Then on Thursday night, Chris and I went to see Jason Aldean with our son and his girlfriend…it was an amazing show!
On Friday, Emma and I hit the mall for some back-to-campus shopping.
We stocked up on comfy clothes for early-morning classes and late-night study sessions.
After another busy week, I’m just chilling by the pool this weekend.
This is the last week my daughter is home from college because we’re doing a quick family trip to the mountains this weekend for my birthday and she’s going on a cruise next week with her boyfriend.
We’ve been doing all the last-minute things to get her ready for her senior year.
On a different note, my washing machine decided to breathe its last breath this week too.
I’ve known it was on its last legs for about 6 months now, so it wasn’t a huge surprise, but spending money on appliances is never really fun.
Something that I’ve struggled with throughout my life is maintaining a positive mindset. My first reaction was “happy birthday to me…guess I’m getting a washing machine for my birthday this year.”
Okay, Eeyore. Now go away!
I gave myself a mental slap and reframed that thought: “Wow! This washing machine lasted for over 15 years and now we get to pick out a new one! How fortunate am I that I have a washing machine? And a beautiful laundry room. I sure am grateful we’re blessed to be able to afford to buy a new one.”
The cherry on top? An amazing new washing machine was on sale and the sale ended the day after my washing machine stopped working.
I didn’t really need to do a load of laundry the day I discovered it wouldn’t start. I feel like God gave me that nudge to wash a load of towels on Tuesday so we’d be able to buy a new one on sale.
It’s amazing how changing the way you think can make such a big difference in how you live your life and perceive the world!
Keeping it real here, I don’t know if I’ll ever manage to re-train myself enough to not start off with a negative reaction. But… I’ve definitely trained myself to kick that negative reaction right out the door ASAP.
Life’s too short to live it the other way, IMHO.
Anywho, today is my birthday and I’m 54 years old.
While I don’t love seeing that number getting bigger each year, I do love that I’m here and I get to celebrate another trip around the sun.
As I blow out the candles, you’ll be one of the things that I’ll remember and be grateful for this year!
