Week in Review: August 14-20 | This week we shared how to put together a first aid kit for college students, tips for making a dorm room feel like home, and some incredible cat care products.
This week was another busy one in our personal lives.
Between helping our kids head back to campus and lots of time on our phones with parents it’s been a little hectic.
We both have parents on either side of our individual families who are struggling with their health.
And being away from them makes it that much harder.
Is anyone else feeling like this at our stage of life?
We did find an afternoon to head out shopping together for materials to make some fall projects.
Can’t wait to get crafting and share what we make with you soon!

We moved Gavin into his apartment for his senior year two weeks ago but this week he was back home.
He and his friends planned a little golf tournament for themselves at a couple of local courses over three days.
Then it was Chris’s birthday on Thursday so we all went to Top Golf to celebrate.
Gavin headed back to App State on Friday and we moved Emma into her on-campus apartment at Charlotte yesterday.
So it’s really quiet around here today.
Good thing Jake moved back home to save up for buying a house so we aren’t complete empty nesters just yet.

First, thank you so much to everyone who took the time to wish me a happy birthday!
We had an amazing time in the mountains in a really gorgeous cabin that you can see here.
While we were there we connected with the owners of the cabin and they’ve given us a discount code to share with you!
If you want to take a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, be sure to check out Skys Creek Retreat and use the code SIMPLY2MOMS when you check out to save $100 on a 3+ night stay.
This week I’ve been a little in the downy dumps.
All of our parents are experiencing some kind of health issue including a recent Alzheimer’s diagnosis for my husband’s stepmom.
We have a lot of things to figure out and it’s extra hard since we don’t live close to any of them.
Katy is also headed back to college this weekend, so my nest will be empty again.
I can remember reading about the challenges of this stage of life: while your kids grow up and leave, your parents begin to need you more.
And here we are, in exactly that situation.
The beauty of my current job is that I do have flexibility with my time, so stay tuned for how that might look in the upcoming months.

This week on the blog we shared a few more helpful articles for all of our families sending students off to college.
Even if you don’t fall into this category you may know someone who would find this information helpful so please share it with them.
And if you think college is a long way off…well believe us it will be here way before you want it to be. (insert crying emoji)

As moms, we worried about what would happen when our kids got sick at college.
So to help ease our minds and definitely help them when that first illness occurs, we put together first aid kits for them.
Get all the details to assemble your own first aid kit for college students here.
