Come shop with us as we share our weekly online favorites! Our Friday faves include bathroom storage, books and more this week.
Anne’s son graduates from college in just a few weeks and her family is planning a trip to the Dominican Republic to celebrate the following week. So she’s been shopping for things to wear that could work for both.
We work together to share simple and budget-friendly ideas for decorating, recipes, DIY projects, and tips for life with older teens (and beyond!).
It always seems like one of us or actually, more than likely both of us, are in the middle of a project.
Whether it’s a room makeover, testing a new recipe, or planning an event.
And the more we work the less time we have to browse around a store and shop in person.
To get all the things done each week we both do a lot of online shopping.
We shop for décor items, kitchen supplies and everything in between.
And since we already love to share budget-friendly ideas with you, we thought it would be fun to show you what we’re shopping for every Friday!
We may even share some personal favorites we love too.
An awesome outfit or makeup product we find along the way!
Now let’s see what we’re shopping for this week…

AnnMarie’s Faves This Week
Small Bathroom Storage
We get asked about this little metal and wood storage tower in my powder room all the time.
Unfortunately, I’m not able to find this exact one.
I bought it at Home Goods several years ago and you know how those stores are…you’ve got to buy it when you see it because it may not be there next time.
Since we’ve received so many questions about this small storage piece I decided to try to source some other amazing options.
I searched online for different styles made in a variety of finishes from wood to metal…baskets to glass for every budget.
After I was finished searching for small bathroom storage, I had a great list of 14 different towers and shelves.
You can see them all below!

If I had to replace my powder room storage tower, I’d probably choose the wood stand with three hanging baskets from World Market.
It’s my favorite of all the styles I sourced because I just love the texture of the hyacinth baskets.
The Best Eyebrow Pencil
My eyebrows have thinned a lot in the past few years!
Can you relate?
Between being diagnosed with hypothyroidism 20 years ago and just getting older my eyebrows don’t look the same as they used to.
I’ve always been pretty lucky with nice shaped brows or at least I think so.
Seriously though, I’ve never had them waxed or done anything to them professionally.
I just need to pluck a few strays here & there and that’s it.
Someone asked me why a while ago why I didn’t fill them…I guess she though I should.
Honestly, I’d never thought about it.
After that conversation, I grabbed my eyeliner pencil one day and filled them in.
Wow…what a difference!
I was hooked!
In my search for a good eyebrow pencil, I tried Precisely, My Brow Pencil from Benefit cosmetics and loved it!
I’ve been considering microblading my brows, but honestly I’m really nervous to pull the trigger on it.
Let me know if you’ve done it.
In the meantime, I’ll continue using the best eyebrow pencil I’ve found yet!
Off The Shoulder Ruffle Party Dress
Remember that pretty green dress I shared in last week’s Friday Favorite post?
Paying extra for expedited shipping was worth it because I got the dress on Monday.
But when I tried it on…it was awful!
Like seriously, not good at all.
Those cold shoulder sleeves that I thought would be amazing turned out to be so weird on.
The edge of the sleeve started closer to the middle of the dress rather than near the shoulder.
So, that dress is going back!
I wore this pretty black off the shoulder maxi dress in the fall to my cousins wedding.
But since that wedding required formal attire a long dress was necessary.
Plus, it was in Florida in October, so still pretty warm weather.
I’m hesitant to wear the same long dress again to my friends wedding this weekend.
Not because any of the same people will be there but it’s long.
And I wonder if it’s too dressy or makes me look like a bridesmaid?
This wedding on Sunday is in New Jersey and it’s still a bit chilly up there…so is the dress too summery?
Help me…leave a comment below and let me know what you think!
Faux Wrap Ruffle Polka Dot Dress
Since I wasn’t positive about wearing my long black dress, I went to the mall this week to look for a new dress.
I found this cute faux wrap polka dot dress at Belk.
The fit is great…I’m in a size 10…and it was on clearance.
Score!
But… there’s always a but isn’t there! LOL
I’m not sure it’s dressy enough!
Now, I have two dresses to choose from.
I guess it’s not a bad problem to have.
Help a girl out and tell me which one I should wear!
Now keep reading for Anne’s Friday favorites…
Anne’s Faves This Week
Somehow I blinked and my son is ready to graduate from college.
Good grief, the past four years have flown by!
I still remember sharing my heart as it felt like it was breaking before moving him in for his freshman year.
Fortunately, I discovered that the anticipation of him leaving was harder than him actually going away.
His mechanical engineering graduation ceremony is on May 5, and the ceremony for his whole class is May 7.
We’ve got plans for both days, plus we’re doing Mother’s Day brunch in Raleigh on the 8th.
Then we leave for a family trip to a beautiful resort in the Dominican Republic on May 14, so I’ve been looking for some dresses to wear that would work for both.
Floral-Print Wrap Dress
Our friend Stacy from Bricks’n’Blooms recommended these fun wrap dresses and I got to see them in person when she wore them at the retreat where we taught in Texas.
They’re available in so many different colors and patterns!
There’s currently a $2 coupon being offered for these dresses too: Score!
I was a little nervous that it would be too long on me since I’m only 5’1″ but it’s just fine with a pair of platform sandals.
The sandals I’m wearing in the picture don’t have a heel and they’re super comfortable.
I usually wear a size small, but after reading some reviews decided to order up and get a medium.
The medium has a little more fabric to wrap around so the neckline is a little more modest, plus even if it blows open in the front, there’s still a layer that should keep me covered (although I might wear seamless booty shorts just to be safe).
Floral Ruffle Dress
I’m loving this dress from Amazon too!
The tiny floral print looks a little dressy, and the ruffles feel so feminine.
It has a liner that goes to just above my knee and then looks sheerer along the bottom.
I held my phone over too far so you can’t see it has a V-neck, and it also has a snap closure to make sure the neck doesn’t open up too much.
I ordered it in a size small.
These are the shoes I’m wearing (they’re practically flats because I don’t like wearing heels).
Button Down Tank Top
I was also looking for some tops for the summer and I’m absolutely loving this one!
This is the one I bought last summer and I wear it all the time so ordered it in a few more colors.
It’s flattering, washes well, and can be dressed up with a cute skirt, or down with jeans or shorts.
The tie detail at the bottom does a great job of disguising that twin-skin pooch that I just can’t get rid of no matter how much weight I lose.
Also, the straps are adjustable so you can get the perfect fit.
Bella wishes she could wear it too…
Actually, she just wants me to sit down and snuggle in bed which is her favorite thing in the world.
Novel: Reminders of Him
Our book club read Verity by Colleen Hoover last year and it was a great novel!
If you’ve ever wanted to be in a book club, we’ve shared tips for starting one and if you want some fun reading suggestions we shared 31 of our favorites too.
There were some parts of Verity that I took issue with, but I figure if a book is well-written and makes me think as much as that one did, I should check out more books by the same author.
This one, Reminders of Him, is so poignant and I stayed up way too late reading each night because I couldn’t put it down.
It’s currently available through Kindle Unlimited.
Full disclosure, it’s a little spicy so be forewarned about a few ultra-sultry scenes, but the storyline about motherhood is truly the star of this book.
You’ll be confronted with some issues related that kept me thinking long after the last page and had me wondering what I would do in the same situation.
