Sending your kids off to college is never easy. Parents and siblings may be sad but those college students are ready to spread their wings! It’s a bittersweet time for sure!
To stay connected and show our love why not send care packages throughout the year!
And Halloween is the perfect time to put a care package together to ship off to your college student!
What Do You Put in a Halloween Care Package?
Oh boy the options are endless!
Just walk into your local Walmart or Target and you’ll find a big display of Halloween treats.

I included everything in this picture above in the first Halloween care package I put together for my son during his freshman year.

And here are all the goodies I included in another one I sent him during college.

Color is key for me when I’m putting together a care package.
And for a Halloween it’s going to be…
ORANGE
So let’s see all the fun & spooktacular orange ideas we can find!
What Candy to Put in a Halloween Care Package?
When you think about Halloween what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
For me…it’s Trick or Treating!
Which of course makes me think about CANDY!!!

Is there anything better than Classic Candy Corn at this time of year?
Nope I don’t think so!
Adding your college students’ favorites is important but it’s also fun to include candy you can only find at Halloween.
Both these Pumpkin Pie Kit Kat and Spooky Junior Mints are limited editions.
How fun are these?
And guess what?
They’re ORANGE!
Mini M&M’s in an orange tube, Hubba Bubba Bubble Tape in Tangy Tropical, and orange-flavored Tic Tac mints.
What Other Snacks Can You Include in a Halloween Care Package?
Let’s be real although Halloween is all about candy…college kids like snack foods too!
And of course keeping with the orange color theme these snack foods are great options for your care package.
A regular bag of chips may not do so well in shipping but Pringles Cheddar Cheese is an excellent option to ship because of the cylinder style packaging.
I’ve also had success shipping both Hot Buffalo Wing Pretzel Pieces and Goldfish Cheddar Snack Crackers.
What Are Some Spooky Ideas for a Gift Package?
I always like to include some fun gifts too!
Candy & snacks are awesome but let’s add a bit of the unexpected too!
Halloween Spooky Room Decor
Every college dorm room or apartment needs some fun Halloween lighting!
And since college students live in small spaces this cute little light-up Jack ‘O Lantern will fit just right.
Orange and purple string lights can be hung around beds, door frames, and more for some added spooky vibes.
Halloween Fun Stuff
Everyone gets to act like a kid again even when you’re in college on Halloween!
Add some orange glow sticks to the gift box.
Or what about some super silly plastic white fangs?
And maybe this fun set of squishy stress balls to ease the stressful long hours of studying.
How Do You Put Together Your Gift Box?
Once you are finished shopping for all our Halloween treats it’s time to put your care package together.

Find a box that everything will fit in snugly. The more room you have the more your items will shift.
The tighter everything is in there the better!
How Do You Decorate a Halloween Care Package Box?
As if shopping for your college student and picking out all those amazing Halloween treats wasn’t fun enough…
Now you get to decorate that plain ‘ole card board box!

Using plain black card stock I covered the inside of each of the 4 flaps on the cardboard box.
Trimming each piece of cardstock to fit.
Then I just went to town with my super amazing artistic abilities and decorated the card stock with a white chalk paint marker.

You can also add a larger piece of decorated cardstock to the inside after 2 of the 4 flaps are closed.
I’m certainly NO artist!
Just look at that pumpkin…I mean seriously! LOL

Get creative and have fun!
