Are you hosting a football-themed party? Check out these amazing but simple ideas that your guests are sure to love!
It’s fall!
Well, not technically yet…but once school starts it feels like it should be fall.
And what’s the best thing about fall?
I mean besides the gorgeous colors outside your window, the cozy sweater weather and pumpkin everything.
Fall is also football season!
Of course, in my house according to my two sons and husband who love everything about football it’s the BEST thing about fall!
So, why not combine their love of the game with my love of entertaining to host a super fun football-themed party with friends?!
Today I’m going to share simple & affordable ideas that you can easily replicate to host your own football watch party at home.
But these ideas can be used for a kid’s birthday, end-of-season team, fantasy football draft, or even a Super Bowl party.
It doesn’t matter what team you root for…local, college, or NFL with my neutral color scheme you can add in your favorite team’s colors.

How to Decorate for a Football-Themed Party

The easiest place to add décor for any party at my house is on a table.
It doesn’t matter if I’m using our dining room or kitchen I like to style and decorate the table in the theme of the party I’m hosting.
The table is usually in the middle of the room for most of us and the first thing people see when they come into the room.
For this Sunday’s football watch party, I decided to set everything up in my dining room.
The first thing I did was create a simple football-inspired tablescape for my friends.

I had so much fun putting this budget-friendly table together with items I already had at home.
Keeping the color scheme neutral allows me to reuse these ideas no matter what team we are rooting for.
Around here it’s usually the Steelers, so I can easily add yellow flags in the faux grass plant.
Or maybe yellow napkins instead of the striped ones.
Or even yellow flowers in the mason jar rather than pampas grass.
Speaking of pampas grass I’ve found the easiest way to make it last all fall with just one product you already have in your home.
Where to Serve Food & Drinks at Your Gathering?

If I’m setting up a party in the kitchen I use my island to serve food but in the dining room, I had to get a little more creative.
I have two console tables in my dining room so I just moved the smaller one to the other side of the room next to the larger table to create a buffet area.

I cleared off the home décor and stored it away for now so that I could use this buffet table for serving drinks.
It’s the perfect size to fit everything I needed for our football themed party.

The smaller table was just the right size for serving a few snacks.
If you don’t have a buffet-style table in your space you can always use a folding table and cover it with a neutral tablecloth.
Or how fun would a tablecloth in your team’s colors be too?
I have a 4-foot pop-up table that I often use when I need extra space to serve food or drinks.
What Drinks Should be Served for a Football Watch Party?

The type of drinks you serve depends on your guest list.
Is your party for your 10-year-old’s birthday or is the event for adults?
For our adult party, we served a variety of beers and kept it ice cold in this galvanized bucket.

Keeping a towel near the drinks is handy for wiping the bottom of the bottle when it’s pulled out of the ice tub.
Or to wipe down the buffet table after pouring a beer into your glass.

I wrote a fun quote on a small chalkboard and leaned it against the mirror with a faux plant for a little extra décor on the drink table.
Wish I had better handwriting but it’s a fun saying for the bar area at our Sunday football watching get together.
Be sure to leave a bottle opener nearby and don’t forget the limes for the Corona!
What Food Should Be Served at a Football-Themed Celebration?

I kept the food super simple and easy to grab a plate and head to the family room to watch the game.
My slate tray from Piper Classics was the perfect size for serving cheese and crackers.

Grab-and-go snacks like pretzels and mixed nuts are a great salty option with beer on game day.
The football game was early in the day, so I kept the snack foods light since we were having dinner together after the game.
But you can also serve some heartier options like buffalo wings, sliders, or pizza if you’d like.
The options are endless!

I put together a football-inspired tiered tray that I included on the food buffet table for even more game day party decorations.
Using neutral décor that can be multi-purpose is a budget-friendly option that will save you money on party supplies.
This pretty 2 tiered tray is not just a party decoration for our football-themed party but can be used all fall as décor in our home.

Are you ready for some football?
Then grab a beer and a plate of snacks so you can join us for the game!
