Happy Weekend!
I was up early today.
Nothing like a blaring alert on your phone for a tornado warning to wake you up on a weekend morning.
Thankfully no tornado went through our neighborhood but it was a crazy storm with hail for 20 minutes.
Now that I’m up I figured I’d write our Simply Stated blog post for you.
Tell us, did you like getting Friday Favorites separately from Simply Stated last week?
The jury is still out on how Anne and I will write our weekly review (this is AnnMarie coming to you today).
It’s a split verdict at this time so we’re going to need some more of you to weigh in on the decision.
We’re down to two choices…
- We take turns writing them one week to the next, and whoever is writing talks to you in the first person. The posts would read some like: “I did such and such with my family this week, while Anne was doing this and that.”
- We each write our own portion of the weekly update so that part of the post would be divided into two sections, Anne’s week and AnnMarie’s week. We’d both write in the first person during our section.
Leave us a comment at the end of this post, or you can send us an email with your vote here.
What’s New with Us
Not only do we work together but we usually get together over the weekends too.
We went to a winery and then out to dinner last weekend with friends and had such a fun night out.
AnnMarie’s Week in Review
It was an emotional week for me as I was in Detroit because my cousin passed away.
He was only 51 and he left behind his three sons who are about the same age as my three children.
Although it was heartbreaking to watch those boys say goodbye to their dad it also brought our family together.
What is it about weddings and funerals? Both always seem to bring families together, don’t they?
It’s actually kinda sad that we’re all so busy with day-to-day life that we don’t make time to see our cousins, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
My sister also flew in from New Jersey so we got to spend a few days together which I’m always so grateful for.
We may be 14 years apart but she’s my person!
I think losing our mom when we were so young made our bond even stronger as adults.
Anne’s Update
One of the best parts of our job is the flexibility that we have. I love that we’re able to take the time to be with family when things happen without having to have a second thought about it!
While AnnMarie was out of town with her extended family, I began tackling the disaster that is going to become my office…
This was my son’s bedroom, but since he’s moved out it’s become the dumping ground for all the things we weren’t sure what to do with.
I should’ve taken a true before picture!
By the time I took this one, I’d already cleared a path and had room for sorting tubs.
It looked like something from that show Hoarders.
It’s so overwhelming getting this kind of a task started, but it feels so good to have everything cleared out.
I also tackled our rec room where the kids have been depositing things they don’t want anymore for years.
There was one trip to the dump and two trips to Goodwill.
The rec room now holds the things we actually want to keep for both spaces because I’m starting with a fun project to transform this space into my office.
I’m still planning what exactly I want to do with this space and I’ll be sharing the project plan with you as soon as I figure everything out!
This Week on Simply2Moms
We didn’t publish as many new blog posts, as usual, this week since I was out of town.
It’s great to have two of us so that the other can pick up the slack if one of us has a busy week or family emergency.
Thanks to Anne for all the work she accomplished!
