Our week in review: June 4-11. We shared all kinds of ideas and inspiration for outdoor summer spaces, some DIY project ideas, and AnnMarie’s summer try-on for tops from Amazon. See what’s going on behind the scenes and some of our favorite inspiration from around the internet too!

This week, it’s finally starting to feel like summer here in North Carolina.

It’s still a little cooler than usual, and our husbands are loving that our lawns haven’t started burning up just yet…

One of AnnMarie’s sons picked out a plum tree to plant in their front yard years ago, and it’s started producing fruit!

Sloane, her other son’s dog, has discovered that she really likes plums as they fall to the ground, unfortunately, plum pits are poisonous for dogs so she has to be closely supervised when she goes out.

The plums are actually really delicious: the perfect level of sweet and tart, so it makes sense that she likes them so much!

Anne is trying to come up with some recipe ideas using plums so stay tuned for some new recipes soon.

AnnMarie’s Week

It was a busy workweek for me as I published four new blog posts.

Sometimes it feels really good to get so much accomplished that’s tangible.

Often we are working on stuff behind the scenes and it feels like we don’t get as much done even though we did…ya know what I mean?

It was my and Chris’s 28th anniversary yesterday so we took a little trip to the mountains this weekend to celebrate.

We’re staying in a tiny house with a fantastic view.

Be sure to check our Instagram stories this weekend because I’m sharing some of our adventures there.

Because we all love a good “before and after” photo I thought I’d share one for our anniversary.

The left is from our wedding day June 10, 1995, and a selfie we took last weekend when we were out on the lake.

Looking forward to spending the next 28 years with my guy!

Anne’s Week

Okay, first, how cute are AnnMarie and Chris?!

I swear, I think she gets prettier each year. <3

I’ve been enjoying spending time with Katy while she’s home for the summer.

Since Ryan and Livy have both officially moved out, she’s been enjoying some one-on-one time with us and getting a taste of what it’s like to be an only child!

We’ve been watching The Handmaid’s Tale together when Kevin’s not around. I read the book years ago, and they’ve done an amazing job depicting a pretty disturbing dystopian society.

We spent some time over at Livy’s one evening hanging out with my grand kitties too.

On Friday, I got to have brunch with Ryan and loved having the chance to just chat and catch up with him. That feeling, when you see your kids doing so well, has got to be one of the best as a parent!

Later on Friday evening, Katy and I put together a char-cootchie board and enjoyed a gorgeous evening outside with Kevin.

I’m trying to soak in and enjoy all these times together as much as possible, because with the way summer is flying, she’ll be heading back to Blacksburg before I know it.

We’re also in planning mode for our monthly supper group and we’re pretty excited about this month’s theme!

Next week Anne’s going to be working on photographing and writing up a couple of new recipes we know you’re going to enjoy, and we’ve already made plans to have friends over next Friday to enjoy them and see AnnMarie’s table.
