Are you looking for a super simple recipe that’s sure to please everyone?
Go ahead and stop searching because this hot pizza dip is the bomb!
I’ve tried other versions made popular by a certain direct sales kitchen tool company, and they don’t come close to this one.
Why?
Simple: cream cheese just doesn’t go with pizza.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good cream cheese recipe! But when it comes to Italian food, why mess with the perfection that is ricotta?!
There’s a reason ricotta is used to stuff shells, layer lasagna, and fill ravioli: it’s perfectly creamy and delicious.
So let’s whip up some hot pizza dip together and wow everyone’s tastebuds!

Ingredients Needed to Make Hot Pizza Dip
Most of the ingredients are ones I keep on hand in my home all the time.
This is what you’ll need to make this delicious dip.
Part-skim Ricotta Cheese You can use full-fat ricotta cheese if you want, but I’ve made it both ways and can’t tell the difference. Save yourself a few grams of fat and use the part-skim.
Part-skim Mozzarella Cheese Like the ricotta cheese, use the full-fat, whole-milk mozzarella cheese if you want, but the part-skim works just as well and still gets nice and gooey when it melts.
Tomato Sauce I always look for tomato sauce with no added salt. I prefer having more control over how much salt I add to my recipes. If you use regular tomato sauce you can omit the salt from the added seasonings below.
Seasonings Typical Italian seasonings are added to both the cheese layer and the homemade pizza sauce. You can adjust them to your family’s preferences.
Toppings Get creative with the toppings on your pizza dip! Use any toppings you love when you order a regular pie.
Tips for Making Keto Pizza Dip
This dip comes together so quickly! First, make the cheesy base.
In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, and seasonings.
Stir until the seasonings are evenly distributed through the cheese.
If your crew likes food with a little heat, you can increase the amount of crushed red pepper.
Most pizza sauces are loaded with unnecessary sugar, making them not so keto-friendly.
It’s super easy to whip up some sugar-free pizza sauce!
Simply combine tomato sauce with some seasonings and you’re ready to go.
If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add a little sugar or low-carb sweetener to taste.
The recipe can be made in an 8-inch pie plate, or split into smaller baking dishes.
When I’m serving a crowd, I like to make two smaller dishes and set them out in different areas.
This is also a great opportunity for serving different toppings on the dips. Consider making one for the meat-lovers, and one that’s vegetarian-friendly.
After you spread the cheese layer in the bottom of the pan(s), top with the homemade pizza sauce and spread it all the way to the edges.
Sprinkle it with cheese, and then it’s time for toppings!
- Extra cheese
- Uncured pepperoni
- Crumbled Italian sausage, cooked
- Seasoned ground beef
- Bell peppers
- Onion
- Olives
- Pineapple tidbits
- Cubed ham
- Mushrooms
- Roasted garlic
- Caramelized onions
- Jalapenos
Can Hot Pizza Dip Be Made In Advance?
Any time I entertain, one of the first things I look for is recipes I can make ahead of time.
I love to prep as much food as possible so that all I need to do at party time is pop things in the oven and serve them up!
Fortunately, this simple pizza dip is a great recipe to make in advance.
You can prep the entire pan (or pans), then cover them and keep them in the refrigerator for a day or two beforehand.
If you’re using several smaller baking dishes to serve the dip, it’s easiest to put them on a baking sheet, just in case anything bubbles over the edges.
Using several smaller baking dishes also allows you to change up the toppings on each one!
Top one dish with meats and another with veggies to offer your guests a vegetarian option.
