It’s already Friday!
Can you believe it?
The weeks are just flying by.
We both had lots of nonblogging things going on this week.
If you follow us on social media then you know what we’re talking about because we share all the behind the scene and life stuff over there.
Don’t miss out and go follow us on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
Anne has been busy painting at their fixer upper while AnnMarie and her daughter, Emma, went back home to New Jersey and then hit New York City.
The flip house is getting closer to the finish line as electrical and plumbing are finally done.
They’re at the point of making a punch list of things to complete in each room. Whoo-hoo!
AnnMarie spent two days visiting family then had a blast in NYC with Emma.
Well it was fun…until she it wasn’t…
Food poisoning hit her hard in the middle of seeing Hamilton on broadway.
Yup! But at least it struck on the last night…we think Emma may need a do-over on Hamilton.
What do you think?

AnnMarie’s Makeup Picks for Women over 50
Today I’m sharing my favorite makeup products for mature…
50 plus…
over 50…
middle age…
well…a 52 year old mom of three who stays up late, needs daily sunshine, didn’t start moisturizing until 2 years ago and is so not into makeup trends or even knows how to apply it well.
Let’s just say it getting old kinda sucks!
I went from not needing cover up to not wanting to leave the house without concealer in a matter of two years.
Yup…I was pretty ok with my face before 50 but since then…ugh…I gotta cover these dark circles.
I guess I feel grateful that I didn’t need much face makeup until now since I really can’t stand how it feels on my skin.
Although, I have always loved mascara and eyeliner.
Hey…I grew up in the 80’s…mascara and eyeliner were it!
I think I even wore blue eyeliner and mascara in my senior portrait…remember those days!?
And all we could afford was Wet ‘n Wild as teenagers boy have the times changed.
Enough reminiscing about the past, let’s chat about what makeup I wear today.
But please remember I’m in no way a beauty expert or influencer (lol…I think we’ve established that) these are just the products I’m using now.
And honestly it wasn’t until I hit the big 5-0 that I would allow myself the luxury to spend money on quality makeup products.
I’ve linked all the products throughout this section just click the headline or you can find them at the bottom of this post as well.
Sometimes you just need an honest review from a friend!
First Aid Beauty Primer

A few years ago I was having issues with eczema around my eyes and my dermatologist recommended First Aid Beauty face wash.
When I bought the face wash I also found this Coconut Skin Smoothie Primer Moisturizer and fell in love with not only how it makes my face feel but the scent too.
This primer is the perfect starter to my daily makeup routine and I’ve even used it in place of moisturizer on occasion.
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

A few years ago I asked for recommendations at our local Ulta Beauty store and the sales woman suggested I try Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.
I’ve tried several different CC, BB, and face makeup products over the years but nothing compares to this one.
This is absolutely the lightest feeling as close as I’m going to get (for now) to cover up there is.
So if you’re like me and you don’t like stuff all over your face then you’ll want to try this one!
Tarte Ultra Creamy Shape Tape

When those dark circles under my eyes started appearing I tried several different concealers to cover them.
But for those of us with more mature skin we have to be careful about the make up we use under our eyes otherwise it can actually accentuate our wrinkles.
Lots of influencers rave about Tarte Shape Tape but for people with very dry skin like me, it may not be the best option because it settles into fine lines.
For the past few years I’ve been using Tarte Creaseless full coverage concealer which has been great.
However, a couple weeks ago I ran to Ulta for a new one and saw that Tarte had released a creamy version of their popular Shape Tape.
And now I finally get what all the hype is about because the Ultra Creamy Shape Tape concealer is pretty amazing!
bareMinerals Hydrating Mineral Veil

The same day I had the mini makeover at Ulta the sales person used bareMinerals mineral veil finishing powder on my face after the tinted moisturizer and I loved it.
The mineral veil diminishes any imperfections while making my skin feel nice and smooth.
Hoola Matte Powder Bronzer

My daughter actually introduced me to the Hoola bronzer by Benefit.
She’s much better at applying makeup than I am!
I use the original Hoola shade on my cheeks, nose and temples then blend it in with a large brush when I need a bit more color.
Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

I’ve never really had thick eyebrows and have been lucky that I can just easily pluck any stray hairs that grow to maintain their shape.
But having hypothyroidism has done a number on my eyebrows over the years especially on the tails.
I started filling them in years ago and the Goof Proof Brow Pencil by Benefit is the best one I’ve found.
I love that it has the brush on the opposite end so it’s an all in one makeup and tool.
L’Oreal Eyeliner

Truth time…I’ve been using L’Oréal eyeliner pencils forever…maybe since I could afford something more than Wet ‘n Wild.
I like the old school sharpener that comes with this one because I’m not a fan of the twist style eyeliners.
L’Oréal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner in the color black has been a staple in my makeup bag for as long as I can remember.
Essence Lash Princess

I may have been influenced by a fellow blogger to try this mascara and I’m so happy I did because it’s the best!
So thanks to KariAnne from Thistlewood Farms who’s a mentor and friend of ours.
I was a loyal user of L’Oreal voluminous mascara for as long as I’ve used their eyeliner.
But now I love Essence False Princess mascara just as much if not more than my beloved L’Oréal and at half the price it’s a winner in my book.
I actually have it on my subscribe and save with Amazon because mascara is the absolute one makeup item I can’t live without!
Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

As much as I don’t love a lot of cover up on my face, I really hate wearing anything on my lips.
But I have really thin lips so could probably benefit from a little lip enhancement from time to time.
However, the only thing I can use on a daily basis is lip balm and Burt’s Bees Beeswax has been my go to for years.
I carry one in my purse, another in my car, one in the kitchen, and one in my bathroom.
I’m never without it.
Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm

Ok so I just said that Burt’s has been my daily lip balm right?!
Well this weekend Emma introduced me to this Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm by Tarte while we were in New York City and I have to admit it’s pretty fantastic.
It gives a nice shine without being too sticky and makes me feel a bit more polished for a day or night out on the town.
We used this hybrid gloss balm in clear but it also comes in 11 colors to match any style or look.
