Need a new top or two for fall? We’re sharing some super cute women’s black tops and they’re all from Amazon!
It’s officially Fall!
Although North Carolina hasn’t received that message because it was 90 degrees here yesterday.
Yup…it was hot!
So while I was sweating trying on a few new super cute tops for this blog post some of you may have been sipping on a hot pumpkin spice latte.
But it’s fine…really it is…I’ll enjoy the last of the summer heat while it lasts.
We’ve had a busy week again.
Apparently, we have a lot of those…umm…maybe just about every week. lol
But we’re gearing up for the holiday season and preparing content because we’ll be taking some time away from work next week.
Every year we travel with our husbands and two other couples who are some of our best friends for a long weekend.
The lucky one who is celebrating their 50th birthday that year gets to choose the destination.
We’ve been to Charleston, Vegas, Nashville (twice), and New Orleans.
This year we’re headed to St. Augustine, Florida and we can’t wait to get away for a little R&R with our besties.
Then we get home and turn around to fly out to Waco the next day for a blogging conference.
We can’t wait!

AnnMarie got her entryway all ready for the autumn season with some fun vintage finds to create a cozy welcome for anyone who comes by.
She’s starting to really embrace her love of antique items and use them around her house.
You’ll have to go take a peek at her foyer.
Anne is almost done with her hallway transformation upstairs in her home and it’s looking amazing!
She added headers to the tops of all the door frames that took her doors from ordinary to extraordinary.
Check out her easy-to-follow steps to create custom door headers in your home.
Anne did it again…she created another delicious but healthy recipe you’re going to love.
It’s almost time to enjoy comfort food and soups.
Do you love thick hearty soups but not the fat?
Then you’re going to want to make this low-fat clam and corn chowder that we’re pretty sure will be on your dinner rotation this fall.
It’s that time of the month again for our dinner club with our blogging friends. Whoohoo!

Friday Favorites: AnnMarie’s Fave Black Tops for Fall
I don’t know if you’ve noticed this but my favorite color to wear is black.
If you follow us on social media or have seen photos of me here on the blog I’m often wearing black.
Not sure why but I just love it…maybe because it’s more flattering on me than other colors I wear or maybe it’s because I’m so used to seeing myself in black.
No matter what the reason is I always gravitate to black when I’m out shopping.
And when I was searching for a new top online recently I kept choosing the black option.
Anne and I had a brand photography session this week (which got rescheduled) so I was looking for a new top to wear and wasn’t having much luck in my favorite stores so I started browsing Amazon.
I knew I wanted to wear black of course so I ordered a bunch of options to try.
That’s what I love about Amazon prime shopping…just add to cart, get it in two days and try it on and if it doesn’t fit just send it back for free. So easy!
And no…we aren’t being paid by Amazon to tell you how great shopping there is…we just both love the convenience of online shopping.
Although if someone from Amazon happens to read this we’d love to work with you! wink wink
For reference, because it may help to know my stats, I’m 5’6″ and weigh 160 lbs.
Do you look at the review photos on Amazon like I do?
I know for sure that whatever I buy isn’t going to look the same on me as the model who’s 6′ tall, 110 lbs with no curves in the photos.
I usually wear medium or large tops depending on the style.
Plus I’m all about comfort…I don’t like anything too tight unless it’s got spandex in it.
I love this waffle knit top…it’s big and comfy. I’m wearing a large and I probably could have sized down but it’s supposed to be oversized.
The v-neck is flattering and the batwing balloon sleeves are on trend this year.
The description says it’s sheer but I didn’t find it to be that way in the black.
It does come in seven other colors if black isn’t your fave and they’re all really pretty and muted tones.
I’d totally get it in another color but I got it as a deal of the day for only $18 (regular price is $31.98) so I’ll let you know when it’s on sale again.
If you like this style grab it quick because it’s 40% off today and I’m not sure how long the sale will last.
This cold shoulder with ruffles is a really pretty style that was popular several years ago but I still love them.
Are they totally out of style now? I sure hope not!
I think when you show off a bit of skin like your shoulders with a top like this or an off-the-shoulder top, it makes it a little dressier.
But the great thing with this shirt is I don’t have to wear a strapless bra like I would if it were completely off the shoulder.
It’s probably long enough that you could wear it with leggings but I prefer to tuck the front in so it covers some of my booty in the back.
Shirts that end at the top of my thighs are not flattering for my body type as that’s my widest area.
After 50 years you kinda figure out what works and what doesn’t, ya know?
Plus the front tuck is on trend right now so it counteracts the possible out-of-style cold shoulder, right?!
This affordable top is more casual with a t-shirt-like texture and is offered in six gorgeous colors.
I’m wearing a size large.
Another very similar option to the last one is this cold shoulder ruffled blouse but this is a much dressier material made from 100% polyester.
It falls shorter than the previous shirt but it’s definitely not loose and flowy on me as described in the Amazon listing even though I’m wearing a large.
The neckline didn’t lay as nice and it was a bit too narrow around my hips.
A larger size may look better at the bottom but I just didn’t love this top for my figure.
It does come in six color options if black isn’t your jam.
This dressy blouse is one shoulder with a strap and swiss dot sleeves and is a bit more form-fitting in the body.
There’s a pretty puff sleeve on one shoulder and the other has a strap that’s wide enough to hide my bra strap.
The semi-sheer sleeves paired with a fold-down boat neck are a flattering style that can be dressed up or down.
I’m wearing a size large in this stretchy comfortable top that is available in black or wine colors.
A super comfy and casual sweatshirt with an off or one-shoulder top.
It’s wide at the neckline so would either hang lower to one side or you can even it out over both shoulders as I did.
I did have to wear a strapless bra with this so not sure if that counteracts the comfort factor of it being a sweatshirt.
The description says it’s an oversized tunic, if you want a looser fit I’d suggest sizing up.
The large top fit me well and was plenty roomy enough although it didn’t hang over my hips as shown on the models.
This cutie comes in eight different color options and is affordable enough you could grab a couple of your favorite colors.
This long sleeve lace sleeve top is available in 38 different options…yup that’s right I said 38…crazy right!?
There are a ton of colors but also different patterns of lace on the sleeves so be sure to double-check which style you prefer before ordering.
It’s lightweight with a high neckline and zippered back.
I didn’t like the length of this shirt on me, so I gave it a little tuck in the front and it completely changed the look and now I love it.
It’s super soft and comfortable, even the lace sleeves feel velvety.
I’m wearing a large.
After trying on all the tops from Amazon, although I loved several of them, I wasn’t sure any were quite right for our business photos.
I remembered a blouse I had admired that a friend wore by CeCe that was beautiful so I searched for it online and found that Amazon sold the brand.
I found this blouse…it was different than my friends and it was kinda expensive compared to the rest of the black tops I shared with you today but it was so pretty.
All of the other shirts were under $30 but this one was $68.
But I figured it was worth the money if made me feel confident and look amazing for our brand photography session.
I decided to order a medium because I wanted a bit more of a fitted look for our headshots.
And it just fits!
I’d be more comfortable in a large if I were wearing it out and about for a day since there’s no stretch at all to the fabric.
But I do think it’s flattering and a bit more professional looking than some of the other shirts just not sure about that price tag!
This blouse comes in a gorgeous bright green or pink as well.
Did one of these black shirts strike your fancy?
Remember they all come in a variety of other colors if you’d prefer more color in your life.
Amazon has some great finds for awesome prices!
