Week in Review: August 28 – September 3 | This week we’ve turned our attention to fall! We shared how to make a simple fall floral arrangement, update a dollar store pumpkin, build a simple addition for a desk, and how to tailgate in style.
We’ve been having so much fun doing some more crafting this week!
There are so many times we see things we want to make but never seem to have time to actually do it.
Time is one of those tricky things, and sometimes the only way you find the time is to actually schedule time.
Our projects took us a little longer than we anticipated because we had to let some things dry overnight before moving to the next step.
However, these orange ceramic pumpkins look pretty amazing now!
We’ll be sharing the different methods we tried to duplicate these sold-out (and expensive!) pumpkins next week.

AnnMarie’s Week
After a week of crafting and working, it was a welcome break to head to the mountains for the long weekend.
Yesterday was the first home game at Appalachian State University so we took advantage of it and booked a place up here for the weekend.
Gavin is a senior this year so we’re going to try to make the most of his last year.
Although we love the NC mountains and since it’s less than 2 hours from our home we’ll always be visiting this beautiful part of the state even after he graduates.
We had a great time tailgating with friends and family.
Emma’s boyfriend is also a student at App so she came up with us this weekend too.
It was great to have 2 out of 3 of the kids here. Jake stayed home with the dogs.
We won the game (well not us but the App football team…lol) so that’s always more fun even though it was so darn hot sitting in those bleachers.
Today should be a refreshing change after such a hot day yesterday because we’re going tubing on the New River in Boone.
Hope you all have an amazing long weekend doing something fun!
Anne’s Week
Last weekend, I was inspired to get back on track with my healthy lifestyle.
I’ve been frustrated the past year because nothing seems to be working and the scale has been creeping steadily higher.
Unfortunately, I’ve ended up making some less healthy choices because of it, leading to a vicious cycle.
I’ve committed to tracking what I’m eating again which always helps me to avoid eating out of boredom.
I’m also waking earlier to give myself time to begin exercising again.
Listening to audiobooks helps me to look forward to the exercising, or at least to not dread it as much…
This week I’ve been listening to a fantastic historical fiction novel called Beneath a Scarlet Sky, about a young Italian man whose courage helps him to lead Jews out of Italy and over the Alps into Switzerland.
The book is a Kindle Unlimited title that includes a free audiobook version.
Next up on my listening list is Who Not How, a title that will (hopefully) give us some tools to help Simply2Moms continue to grow.
If you’ve never tried listening to audiobooks, you can get a free Audible trial membership that includes one free book title to see if you enjoy it too!
Speaking of books, I’ve stayed awake way too late nearly every night this week reading another psychological thriller: None of This is True.
It was hard to put it down and go to sleep!
This is our third year with season tickets for Virginia Tech’s football games, and we were so excited to get up to Blacksburg for the season opener on Saturday!
We got there bright and early and made both brunch and dinner while we reconnected with people we’d met in our parking lot the past two years.
The Hokies had a rocky start but came out strong in the second half to pull out a decisive win.
I’m already looking forward to next week’s game and getting to see Katy again.
