Simply Stated 56

Week in review: June 12 – 18: We shared some ideas for dorm living and Boho decorating, a World Market dupe that can save you over $100, and a try on for summer maxi dresses from Amazon. We’re celebrating the dads in our lives today. Plus we’ve found some great ideas and inspiration from some of our favorite websites.

Happy Father’s Day!

This is another one of those holidays that can be bittersweet if you’re missing your dad.

We’re sending you some big hugs if that’s how you’re feeling because we both get it: we live further away than we’d like from our dads, and both our husbands have lost their fathers.

Having a dad-sized hole in your life is hard, so be sure to give any amazing dads you know some extra love today.

Which is exactly what we’re doing!

If you haven’t met them yet, these are the amazing men who are such wonderful dads to our kids.

That’s Anne’s husband on the left in the blue button down, and AnnMarie’s husband on the right with glasses.

They’re the kinds of dads who always put their families first, and we both feel like we’ve hit the jackpot by marrying them!

In fact, if it wasn’t for their love and support, Simply2Moms wouldn’t exist.

We’re both spending today helping our kids make them feel extra special.

AnnMarie’s Week

AnnMarie and Chris standing with mountains beyond them

On Monday, Chris and I left the amazing tiny mountain cabin we stayed in last weekend to celebrate our 28th anniversary and headed to the airport that afternoon for Chris to catch a flight out of town for work.

Since he was away all week guess who had to cook…this mama!

It’s funny because I spent at least 23 years making dinners every night for my family and they seem to have forgotten that.

Chris took over cooking when I was working more after we started this blog but the wisecracks I get about not cooking never stop.

It’s not that I can’t cook, it’s just something I don’t particularly love to do…it’s just another thing I do because it has to get done.

But if my husband wants to cook and enjoys it…then have at it, honey!

Even though today is Father’s Day and we’ll be grilling steaks I know he’s going to want to be the master of his grill.

I’ll be thinking about my dad and the cookouts we would have every year at his house on Father’s Day with him when the kids were little.

Wish we could spend today together like the good old days!

He loves to get his picture taken…can ya tell?

This was the last time I saw him back in February and I made him take a selfie with me first thing in the morning.

I think we need to take some better photos together.

Happy Father’s Day Dad!

Anne’s Week

This week didn’t go exactly the way I’d planned…

Monday night I started feeling a little off, and I woke up with a bad case of vertigo on Tuesday morning that kept me flat on my back the entire day with my eyes closed.

I couldn’t even look at screens without getting dizzy.

So I listened to some audiobooks and podcasts between sleeping.

Wednesday was just a little better.

Fortunately, I was almost back to normal by Thursday because AnnMarie and I had some big plans for Friday that we’ll be sharing with you on the blog next week!

You’re not gonna want to miss this.

Today, I’m enjoying time with all my kids who are here for a pool day and a cookout to celebrate their amazing dad.

So I’m feeling pretty blessed too!

I’m missing my dad who lives in Maryland.

We haven’t seen each other in person since Christmas, but I’m hoping to see him and my mom later this summer.

I wanted to take a moment to give him a shout out here because he was such a wonderful father to me and my sister, and the way he loved my mom gave me the roadmap of what to look for in a husband who would become the father of my kids.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad! I love and miss you.
