My Absolute Favorite Thing about Spring

pear tree blooming in front yard with house beyond tree in spring

Can you guess by this photo what my absolute favorite thing about spring is?

I bet it’s one of your favorite things too!

Did you guess it?

It’s the trees blooming!

My favorite color is green.

And not because I love to wear the color green (because I really love to wear black) or decorate my home in shades of green (nope I like black and neutrals in my decor too).

But green is my favorite color because of spring!

In spring the trees start blooming, the grass gets greener and everything comes back to life.

Just look at that beautiful pear tree in my front yard with those pretty blooms. And not to mention the freshly cut lawn (thanks Chris!).

One of my favorite things to do in spring is to open a window and drive down the road in my green car (yup I do drive an army green colored car) admiring the trees beginning to bud!

So since I love the greenery outside my house so much during this season why not decorate the inside of my home with greenery too!

Today we’ll tour my dining room and how I deccorated with greenery for spring.

How to Style a Spring Tablescape

Last year I styled my table a bit differently with long white floral stems in pretty bottle neck jars.

But this year was all about the greenery as my centerpiece! You can check out all the details here.

Using five small faux plants in affordable gold buckets lined up down the middle of the dining room table creates a symmetrical simple design.

Neutral wood risers under two of the planters gives visual interest to the centerpiece arrangement.

Little glass votive candles and a few strings of wood beads surrounding the plants complete the center of my spring dining table.

Decorating a Dining Room Buffet for Spring

view of buffet table in dining room decorated for spring with candles and faux plants

I originally bought this buffet for our entryway in our old house but now we use it as and extra piece of furniture in our dining room.

The drawers store candles and other decor items and the baskets below usually hold old photo albums. But because the photo album covers aren’t really pretty I took them out for the photos. (Note to self…recover photo albums before the next dining room blog post…lol!)

Leaning a large mirror on the wall above the buffet table reflects more the light in the space from the windows across the room.

A tall fiddle leaf plant brings the natural elements of the outdoors into our dining room. And the size is a great compliment next to the buffet.

I styled the top of the buffet with a long wood tray decorated with a variety of candles.

Brass candle holders borrowed from Anne’s extra stash of home decor brings more gold into the dining room to match the gold buckets used in the tablescape.

The tall gold candlesticks mixed with more of those inexpensive glass votives create a bit of drama in the dining room.

Don’t all those candles look so pretty lit? Love how the candlelight refects in the mirror.

And of course at the other end of the tray a small faux ivy plant completes the spring dining room buffet table.

How to Style a Dining Room China Cabinet for Spring?

Behind the dining room table is our china cabinet filled with my Rae Dunn collection.

An actual real snake plant in a galvanized planter propped on an antique wood stool is perfect spring or even year round decor.

I added several small faux plants and moss spheres on the shelves in between the white stoneware.

The different textures and colors of the green plants and orbs give the china cabinet all the spring vibes.

You can check out this post to get all the nitty gritty details of how I style my china cabinet.

On the opposite side of the dining room is a small side table that stores table linens.

This cabinet is the perfect size for the small wall next to the window.

Above the table is a simple word art sign that I found a few years ago at Hobby Lobby on clearance.

I added one of the bottle neck jars with white floral stems from last years spring tablescape on the side table.

Just love the delicate look of these stems. They kinda look like the blooms of our pear tree right outside the dining room window.

And yet another green faux plant in a wood lantern I bought at Vintage Market Days last fall creates a pretty vignette for my spring dining room.
