Outdoor Patriotic Celebration Ideas
Here in the south, when the weather is warm, we love to entertain outdoors!
So, when planning our dinner party to celebrate the Fourth of July, I immediately knew I was going to take it outside on our back deck.
But don’t worry…I’ve also shared some awesome ideas for inside your home too!
Check out my other posts with tips to decorate your home for July 4th, including a simple patriotic summer fireplace, and even a fun Americana-themed tiered tray!
Last year, I bought new cushions and they just happened to be blue so they coordinate perfectly with an American-themed tablescape.
I grabbed a couple of pillow covers from Hobby Lobby at 50% off to add even more comfort to the two chairs at the head table.
Aren’t they great?
I love the denim and white stripes with the natural jute piped border.
And they’re neutral enough to use on the deck all summer long!
Americana Themed Centerpiece
The first step in styling my outdoor patriotic tablescape was to create a centerpiece.
The 5 large American flags in a white enamel vase are the star of this patriotic centerpiece and super fun for celebrating America on July 4th.
Another Hobby Lobby find was the red metal candle lantern and since it was 50% off I only spent $12 on it.
Score!
I never pay full price for anything at that store…do you?
Sales items rotate weekly so try to shop for the things you need while they are at a discount.
Although I usually don’t decorate with red, I can totally use the lantern at Christmastime too.
A glass vase filled with fresh-cut hydrangea from my backyard adds a beautiful floral element to the outdoor dining table.
And I just love how the washed skinny linen table runners look woven through the centerpiece.
I borrowed two of them from Anne, but I think I may need a few for myself.
The skinny table runners are super versatile and add so much texture to a tablescape or anywhere you want to use one or even two.
If you’re interested in getting one check out our friend Diane’s store here.
Since our patriotic dinner party will be in the early evening a candle lantern on the table and another nearby provide pretty ambient lighting.
I’m thinking some string lights may look really amazing hung above the table.
What do you think?
Beautiful Neutral Place Settings
Since the color scheme was red, white, and blue I used the classic striped cloth napkins I bought for my lemon-inspired summer tablescape last month.
I borrowed Anne’s DIY jute napkin rings since I didn’t have anything that coordinated.
Think I may need to make some of these napkin rings…they are so fun!
And I also snagged the lighter-colored jute placemats from Anne too.
They are a bit smaller than my seagrass chargers and fit better on my table outside.
When setting the table, I relied on my everyday dishes & silverware again this month.
Boy, am I glad I have these neutral plates from Pottery Barn to use for our virtual dinner parties?
Although, it could be fun to change it up and get different colors or patterns…I do like the idea of using the same white dishes.
I think it may help you see how easy it is to change up the look of your tablescape with every season or holiday or even theme using your regular everyday dinnerware.
I used the neutral jute rings and placed the napkins on top of the dishes.
This is a simple and classic look for any season or tablescape theme.
Recently, I’ve been folding the napkin and placing it between the plates.
Then using the top plate as a place to further decorate the tablescape within the theme.
Check out this creative idea we did as a plate topper!
Patriotic Dinner Party Food
Now, that my table is finished, I’m ready for hours of chatting with good friends and enjoying great food!
