Simple red, white & blue decor creates the perfect patriotic summer fireplace. A stars & stripes burlap banner sets the vibe for our modern farmhouse stone fireplace.

I changed out a few items after Christmas on our fireplace mantle that I thought would take us from winter through spring and even until fall. You can check that post out here. But I got a bit bored and wanted to change it up for summer. Are you surprised? 😂

Modern Farmhouse Style

I’ve never decorated our home for the fourth of July…except for adding American flags to our porch. There have been so many cute holiday items in the stores lately it made me want to add some red, white and blue to our home for summer. A couple of weeks ago I put together a farmhouse styled patriotic tiered tray but also wanted to decorate our fireplace for the season.

I went with a totally different look than our fireplace from last summer. By keeping the patriotic decor fairly subtle it blended in with all the neutral colors in our home and matched our modern farmhouse style. I started by adding a stars & stripes burlap banner from Hobby Lobby to the wood mantle. Ta da….instant patriotic summer fireplace!

Red, White & Blue

Swapping out black striped ribbon for red on our wreath was a subtle way to bring in some summer holiday color. I replaced our lavender with white hydrangea in the white farmhouse jug. And finally, adding the blue “Home of the Free because of the Brave” sign I found at Hobby Lobby.

These new things blended in perfectly with the pieces I already had on our mantle. Simple ways to add some red, white & blue to the stars & stripes banner!

On the hearth, I left our wood box filled with pillows but replaced the black lanterns with a new white candle holder from Kirkland’s. And that cute wood stool from Michaels holds a plant that I’m proud to say is still growing strong! Both the white lantern and plant brighten up the fireplace and look summery. Don’t you think so?
