Simple red, white & blue decor creates the perfect patriotic summer fireplace. A stars & stripes burlap banner sets the vibe for our modern farmhouse stone fireplace.
After Christmas, I changed out a few items on our fireplace mantle.
I thought those simple neutral décor pieces, would take me from winter right through spring & summer.
And maybe even until fall, when I’d want to add some warmer colors and textures.
You can check that post out here.
But I got a bit bored and wanted to change up my mantel décor for summer.
Are you surprised? LOL!

How to Add Patriotic Décor to a Rustic Fireplace
Honestly, I’ve never really decorated our home for the fourth of July.
Well, unless you count sticking an American flag or two in my flower pots on the front porch.
There have been so many cute holiday items in the stores lately.
And seeing it all displayed had me craving some red, white and blue around here.
A couple of weeks ago, I put together a farmhouse styled patriotic tiered tray and I love how it turned out.
It’s so fun & a little colorful for my neutral loving self.
I liked it so much that I decided I needed some more Americana vibes around here.
It was time to give my fireplace a little update for summer!
I went with a totally different look than our fireplace from last summer.
What Americana Décor Can You Add to a Mantel?
I started decorating the fireplace by hanging an inexpensive stars & stripes burlap banner on the mantel.
Ta da…instant patriotic summer fireplace!
By keeping the patriotic décor simple, the new pieces blended in with all the neutral colors in our home.
How to Decorate with Red, White & Blue
Swapping out black striped ribbon for red on our wreath was a subtle way to bring in some summer holiday color.
I replaced the faux lavender stems with white hydrangea in a white farmhouse jug.
They look so bright & beautiful on the mantel for summer!
The candles and antique window frame add even more white to the fireplace.
Finally, adding the blue farmhouse style wood sign completes the red, white and blue color theme on my mantel.
These patriotic items coordinated perfectly with the everyday décor pieces I already had on our mantle.
Simple ways to add some red, white & blue to the stars & stripes banner!
How to Style a Fireplace Hearth for Summer
On the hearth, I left our wood crate box filled with pillows that’s I’ve had there for years.
I did replace the black lanterns with a new white wood candle holder from Kirkland’s.
The lighter color pops against the brown and gray stone on the fireplace for the warmer months.
A cute wood stool from Michaels holds a plant that I’m proud to say is still growing strong!
Both the white lantern and plant lighten up the fireplace mantel and look great for summer.
