Come on in and tour my 2021 Christmas home. I used lots of greenery but also brought back some old family favorite holiday décor pieces.
Well, here we are at the end of another year.
I honestly can’t believe I’m saying that.
2021 has just flown by!
Do you feel like that too?
They say the older you get the faster the years go by.
I’m not quite sure who “they” are, but they’re sooo right!
And as my children grow up and spread their wings, I cherish every time that my family can be together.
Christmas is always one of those times that we are all home and spending time with each other.
Eating meals together…even if that means going out to dinner…which we seem to do a lot at this busy time of year.
Watching football together on Sundays.
Or just hanging out chatting around the kitchen island.
The time I spend with my absolute favorite people on this earth is the most precious gift to me.
So, grab a glass of wine or cup of tea (depending on what time you’re reading this!) and come tour our Christmas home!
Come On In
If you’re new around here, I’m AnnMarie and I get to blog with my bestie (and across-the-street neighbor), Anne.
We both got to partner with Delaney Hardware and Ryobi Tools this year to give our front doors a makeover.
There’s still time to vote for our doors (and enter to win up to $1,000 in products from them for your own home)!
If you have two email addresses, you can vote once for each of us… (wink, wink).
We had so much fun updating and decorating our front porches this year!
I’m lucky enough to be able to see Anne’s gorgeous big front porch from mine.
We may have different styles but we also still love some of the same home décor ideas!
And Christmas is no exception, you have to go take a look at Anne’s pretty country chic Christmas home tour!
Let’s take a look around my modern farmhouse holiday home starting here on my front porch…
Front Porch
We had the exterior of our home painted this summer and I’m loving the lighter color scheme.
Especially the front door color.
Now my Christmas basket just pops on the lighter color.
And what about that gorgeous new handle set from Delaney Hardware?
Entryway and Foyer
Our front staircase is straight ahead when you step into our home past the foyer.
I’ve had the garland and pencil tree for a few years.
This year I updated the tree décor with these easy DIY wood bead ornaments.
I also updated the garland and gold bells.
Adding a little extra greenery in a different style throughout the garland gave it more texture.
And the pretty white frayed edge ribbon is exactly the look I wanted to update the staircase garland.
From the staircase when you turn and look back toward the front door you can see the entire open foyer.
I gave my entryway an update this year and swapped the traditional table and mirror for a bench.
I changed the olive tree that usually sits in my vintage crock for a Christmas tree for the holidays.
Do you collect vintage crocks?
This is my first one but I’m always on the hunt for more.
On the other side of the foyer where the traditional table and mirror used to be, is now styled with a farmhouse bench and rustic barnwood coat rack I made.
The pillows, from our friend Jackie at Rod Works in Asheville create a cozy casual feel in our entryway to welcome in family and friends.
Living Room
Our formal living room is a casual and comfy space and far from “formal”.
It’s filled with family photos in a large gallery wall that spans the only two of the walls in the room.
Since the walls already have so much going on, I don’t decorate too much in this room.
The holiday décor is simple with a neutral vignette on the coffee table and a small wreath hung from a wood candle lantern.
Anne actually decorated this room for me…she’s such a good friend!
Dining Room
One of my favorite rooms to decorate is my dining room.
I think it’s because we don’t use the room everyday so it stays fairly neat. LOL
We’ve had our dining room furniture for more than 25 years and updated it with some white paint several years ago.
I collected Rae Dunn for a couple of years and displayed it in our china cabinet.
But like all fads I’m kinda over it so I just turned some pieces around and tada a whole new neutral look!
Family Room
We get a real Christmas tree every year for our family room and decorate it with meaningful ornaments we’ve collected over the years since we got married.
The focal point of our family room is the stone fireplace flanked between two tall windows, which I love to decorate each season.
For Christmas, I styled the mantel around my new custom sign from our friends at Between You & Me Signs.
And on the fireplace hearth I added a basket filled with our Christmas card books…it’s so fun to look back at all the photo cards we’ve received over the years.
If you want to make a Christmas card photo book be sure to download our free printable to help you get started.
I brought back some old family favorites to decorate our entertainment center.
We used to give our children a new nutcracker each year as part of their advent calendar, but I haven’t put them out the past two years and my daughter missed them.
Sometimes having a magazine worthy holiday home has to take a back seat to family memories and favorite décor pieces.
Hallway
Instagram’s favorite console table sits in our hallway beyond the foyer and is decorated with neutral greenery.
Every year I try to add a wreath to my round mirror but it never looks right.
Round wreaths on round mirrors just don’t go together.
I found some great inspiration on Instagram & Pinterest to add greenery to just the top and it’s the perfect solution!
Anne put together this look to “mirror” the wreath on my fireplace mantel…she did such a great job!
My nativity was a gift from my aunt for our first Christmas Chris & I were married, so it holds a special place in my heart.
Kitchen
I added a bit more Christmas decor in my kitchen this year.
The tray always sits in the middle of our table and I change out the décor seasonally.
Trays are a great decorating piece for busy spaces in your home because they can easily be moved out of the way when needed.
This year I added some more greenery in our kitchen…the light fixture, windows and even the bulletin board!
Aren’t those photos of my kids sitting on Santa’s lap just precious!?
Laundry Room
We gave our laundry room a complete makeover this year…you should see the before pictures.
Wow!
Total transformation!!
Since it’s such a beautiful room now, I had to add some pretty Christmas décor in here too this year.
