Wait Until You See this Simple Patriotic Entryway

Check out these simple ideas to style a patriotic entryway. Add some Americana décor to your foyer this summer.

I didn’t think I’d be changing my décor in our foyer quite so soon.

When I styled it for spring I told myself and you in this post that I’d be leaving it for a while.

It looked so pretty and would have been just perfect right through the summer.

But when I was reorganizing my decorating bins last week, I found a few patriotic décor pieces.

So, I thought it would be fun to challenge myself to restyle my entryway for the upcoming summer holidays.

Do you change up things around your house just for fun?

I used to decorate a space and then leave it.

Now, I enjoy moving items around because they somehow look brand new in a different spot.

And the best part…it’s free!

It costs nothing to redecorate a table, shelf, or row of hooks with décor pieces you already own.

Shop your home and get creative!

Now, let’s check out how I styled my foyer and maybe you can get some ideas too!

How to Style a Patriotic Entryway

front entryway foyer bench to one side of door faux tree to the other

My foyer is a wide open space which is great.

However, I don’t have much wall space for decorating.

Our house is a mix of traditional features like the picture frame wainscoting with a modern farmhouse style in my furniture and décor choices.

Last year, I gave my entryway a makeover and turned the classic foyer style to a causal farmhouse vibe.

One of the easiest affordable patriotic decorating items are American flags.

You can find them anywhere especially at this time of the year with Memorial Day just around the corner.

I added these 8×12 flags to my favorite hanging basket on the inside of our front door.

The stars and stripes instantly brighten up the black door.

This same look hung on the outside of our door a couple years ago to brighten up our front porch.

And these same flags were the part of a centerpiece on my patriotic tablescape last summer.

I added a few plastic bags inside the basket to fill the bottom and hold the sticks of the flags in place.

Although, this basket is sold out, there are lots of other hanging baskets you could use to get this same look.

Here’s a great one that’s very similar and super affordable.

Also, be sure to check out the one I found at the bottom of this post…it’s so pretty!

How to Add Red, White & Blue Décor to your Home

farmhouse bench with wood row of hooks styled with patriotic décor

When I transformed my entry, I replaced the table and mirror on this wall with a DIY row of hooks I made from an old piece of barn wood.

The farmhouse style coat rack added a new place to decorate each season and holiday.

I love finding new things or even shopping my house to style this area.

blue and white striped pillow with red pillow on bench

I didn’t have a plain red pillow, so I grabbed one I used at Christmas and just turned it around so you can’t see the front.

Can you see the zipper? LOL

I did source a budget-friendly set of pillow covers from Amazon (linked below) that I may order today.

That way I’ll have solid red pillows when I need them for holidays like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Valentine’s Day and of course Christmas.

On the end of the coat rack, I hung a white washed tobacco basket I’ve had for years.

I love the texture it brings to the space.

Putting a bead and twine garland over the hook with the basket adds even more texture.

And since both are white they coordinate with the Americana theme.

I bought this red lantern last year when I was styling an outdoor patriotic party for our virtual supper club.

Have you heard about our monthly supper clubs?

We get together virtually with a group bloggers and share tablescape ideas and menus for a different theme each month.

It’s so much fun…you can check it out here.

Americana themed berry wreath on barn wood hooks

On the middle hook, I hung this pretty rustic wreath from my friend Laura at Round Wreath.

It’s called The Firecracker…isn’t that such a fun name!

We’ve been working with Round Wreath for several months and just love Laura.

She creates beautiful wreaths at super affordable prices.

You can check out her website here and shop for the perfect wreath or two for your home.

chalkboard with patriotic quote

Chalkboards are an amazing option to hang from a row of hooks in your home.

You can add quotes, messages or artwork for holidays and seasons.

I have a wood sign with a quote to honor our soldiers for Memorial Day, that I’ve used on my fireplace hearth during the summer.

Since I really love the quote, I decided to write it on my hanging chalkboard.

hanging wicker basket filled with faux flowers

On the last hook (or maybe the first depending on which way you’re looking at the coat rack) hangs my new-ish basket.

I bought this awesome basket at the Findery in Waco, Texas a couple months ago.

The delicate white faux flower stems are from Magnolia market.

I styled the basket with these pretty florals when I decorated this space for spring.

They look so great together and the white flowers go with the red, white & blue patriotic look for my entryway.

It all started when I decorated a patriotic tiered tray.

Then I gave my fireplace mantel a patriotic feel.

Our virtual supper club had a patriotic dinner party and I decorated my outdoor table and deck.

Anne shared a delicious menu with recipes to serve at a patriotic dinner party.
