Does your heart bleed red, white, and blue? Show your love for the USA with these simple and affordable ideas to decorate a patriotic front porch this summer.
One of my favorite places to decorate for each season is my front porch.
After all, it’s one of the first things anyone sees when they come to my house!
Someone might never even come inside my house, but if they see my front porch?
They’re gonna think I do a lot of decorating for the season…
I’m thinking my UPS and Fed-Ex delivery guys must think I’m a decorating fool.
Sometimes, they’re probably right.
And sometimes, I’ve still got my Christmas pillows out by the pool in the middle of summer.
So.
If you want to make people think you decorate a lot, decorate the heck out of your front entry like AnnMarie’s patriotic entryway or your front porch!
I’m pretty frugal when it comes to seasonal decorating, and like to reuse things as much as possible.
I can’t wait to share my simple, budget-friendly ways to decorate for summer!
Grab yourself a glass of sweet tea and let’s take a look at my patriotic front porch all decorated for summer in red, white, and blue.

Simple Ideas to Decorate a Patriotic Front Porch
I set the scene out by my sidewalk with some 12-inch flags lining the sidewalk.
They’re spaced out so that each flag is close to the dividing line for each segment of the sidewalk.
These flags are pretty inexpensive, and I’ve had them for years.
One of my favorite parts of my home is the front porch that runs along the front of the whole house.
The railings are the perfect spot to hang patriotic buntings.
I like to use black zip ties because they’re easy to use and inexpensive.
One set will last me for several years!
I like to hang my buntings and place my flags over Memorial Day weekend and will leave them up through the 4th of July.
After that, it’s fun to transition to all things sunflower for a late summer display before it’s time to bring out the pumpkins and mums.
How to Decorate a Front Door for Summer
One of the easiest ways to decorate any space each season is with wreaths.
Our friend Laura from Round Wreath creates so many affordable wreath styles to suit every style of decor!
AnnMarie hung one of her patriotic wreaths in her front entry and it’s perfect for her modern farmhouse style.
I love how her red, white, and blue hydrangea wreath looks on my front door for my patriotic porch!
I added some patriotic summer details on each side of my front door.
Adding a US flag to my planter is an easy way to instantly make the planter look summery and patriotic.
A bucket of faux white hydrangea blooms ties in the color scheme.
These red star-shaped baskets were a gift from my mom almost 30 years ago right after I got married.
They get used a lot during Christmas, but they’re perfect for a patriotic summer display too!
The other side of my front entry alcove has another painted planter with a boxwood topiary and US flag.
Then I added a red step stool I got when my son was a toddler.
Step stools are a great way to add height to your decorating vignettes!
A basket of faux white flowers and a bucket with faux ferns add color and texture.
Then I attached a painted metal star from Hobby Lobby to my white candle lantern.
Adding Patriotic Details to the Rocking Chair Porch
One of the reasons we chose our house was the large front porch that runs across the entire front of the house.
We’ve had rocking chairs on the porch from the time we moved in.
They started out white, but we painted them black for more contrast.
It’s so easy to change out the throw pillows on the rockers with the seasons!
These red velvet pompom pillows are perfect for Christmas and for my patriotic front porch.
I found this tiered plant stand at Hobby Lobby a few years ago and it’s one of my favorite spots to decorate each season.
Here are some similar plant stands if you’d like one for your outdoor spaces: multi-tiered iron plant stand, iron etagere plant stand, 4-tiered basket stand, 3-tier plant stand.
Between the heat in North Carolina and my black thumb, real plants don’t stand a chance when I put them on my porch, so I rely on faux plants in my tiered stand.
Small US flags, some painted patriotic stars, and a patriotic sign add a summery touch.
More Patriotic Porch Decorations
I attached a bunting to the far end of my porch, and then created a small vignette.
An old stool holds a bucket with a faux fern, and some candle lanterns fill the space.
I added one of the red star-shaped baskets to carry on the patriotic theme.
The far side of the porch is a little more narrow, so we don’t have room for a rug.
Two more rockers with red pillows keep the look consistent.
I added an heirloom patriotic quilt topper as a throw on one of the rockers.
There’s a container holding different throw pillows at the far end that I topped with my large bee skep to add some height in the corner.
And that’s it!
I hope you got some easy ideas to give your home some patriotic details this summer.
More Patriotic Decorating Ideas From Simply2Moms
Over the years since starting our blog, AnnMarie and I have both started adding some patriotic decor to our homes during the summer.
It all started when AnnMarie decorated a patriotic tiered tray.
Then she gave her fireplace mantel a patriotic feel.
Next, she gave her entryway some patriotic accents.
Our virtual supper club had a patriotic dinner party and AnnMarie decorated her outdoor table and deck.
I shared a delicious menu with recipes to serve at a patriotic dinner party.
I’ve also decorated the inside of my home with a mix of patriotic decor and vintage baseballs.
Now let’s check out some more summer decorating inspiration.
