The Healthy Fall Meals You Want| THM Inspiration

Want some ideas for what to eat following Trim Healthy Mama? Check out these four simple and healthy fall meals for inspiration.

What do I eat if I want to try Trim Healthy Mama (THM)?

This is the number one question my friends ask me when I’ve told them about this lifestyle.

This is why AnnMarie and I began our What’s On My Plate series of posts.

Sometimes it really helps to see how other people put THM meals together.

And even if you’re a veteran Trim Healthy Mama, this is a great way to find some new ideas!

Food freedom can be a challenge at first

Food freedom is the best part about Trim Healthy Mama. Honestly, this is the part that makes it a sustainable lifestyle. But, food freedom can be a little intimidating at first.

Most people discover THM as a way to lose weight. And while slimming down does happen when you eat this way, THM really isn’t a diet. It’s a healthy lifestyle. Here’s a link for the THM Plan book that teaches you the basics.

You see, on THM there are no strict meal plans.

Portion size is different for each person because we all have different needs (which will change over time).

And counting calories, logging macros, or tracking steps and calories burnt? Nope. Not required.

You can read how I lost 25 lbs and went from a size 12 to a size 4 without counting a single calorie here. The best part? I never felt like I was on a diet.

I’ve been eating this way since 2016 and am maintaining my goal weight and size.

Healthy Fall Meal Ideas

Somehow it feels like we’ve skipped over fall and gone right to winter in North Carolina!

Of course I’m talking about a North Carolina winter, not a Minnesota winter… ?

Our temps have been down into the 40s at night and only into the 50s during the day. So I’ve been craving comfort foods lately. You’re going to love this day of healthy fall meal ideas!

Breakfast | THM-E

plate with two slices of sprouted toast spread with laughing cow cheese and an egg white and vegetable scramble. A mug of crio bru is next to the plate.

An egg white scramble is a fantastic way to start the day!

I start with a bunch of leftover veggies mixed into some egg whites. A sprinkle of shredded Parmesan cheese adds some flavor.

The two slices of sprouted toast with one wedge of light laughing cow cheese spread between them is what makes this an E meal.

My mug is featuring one of my absolute favorite cold weather drinks: Crio Bru.

What’s Crio Bru?

Only heaven in a cup!

It’s roasted, ground cocoa beans!

You can brew it in a coffee pot, but I prefer steeping it like tea or using a French press for an even stronger chocolate flavor.

It’s not sweet at all. I like mine with some Pyure and almond milk. You can use cream or half and half too. It’s also delicious to add a few drops of flavored extracts like peppermint, caramel, hazelnut, almond, or vanilla!

The carbs for this E meal come from the sprouted toast. There’s less than 5 grams of fat that come from:

  • a spritz of avocado oil to cook my egg whites and veggies – 0 grams
  • 2 teaspoons shredded Parmesan cheese – 1 gram
  • 1 wedge of light laughing cow cheese – 1.5 grams

Lunch | THM-S

Lunch was on the run. You’ve gotta love Chipotle salads!

I guess that’s not really “cold weather” food, but it’s what I was in the mood for!

I order mine with extra lettuce and topped it with chicken, pico de galo, shredded cheese, a drizzle of sour cream and guacamole.

This is a heavy S meal because there’s a LOT of fat in the guacamole, cheese and sour cream.

Dinner | THM-E

A serving of THM cowboy grub on a bed of lettuce in a bowl

Dinner was one of my family’s favorite E recipes from the first Trim Healthy Mama cookbook: Cowboy Grub. It’s basically chili made with ground turkey, and it has brown rice mixed in for some additional healthy carbs.

Another one of my family’s favorites is this ground turkey skillet meal recipe..

I like eating my Cowboy Grub on top of a big bed of lettuce. It gives me extra non-starchy veggies, and helps me to feel full.

My husband and son usually eat a large bowl or two. And my girls like to top theirs with cheese.

Snack | THM-S

This delicious snack is the Cinnamon Roll Mug Muffin recipe from the first THM cookbook. I “frosted” it with some plain nonfat Greek yogurt mixed with vanilla and sweetener.

That’s all, folks! A day with a nice mix of E and S meals. I love that I never feel hungry or deprived with Trim Healthy Mama!
